Side by Side

To this day, I'm still scared of black eyeliner. I only just became brave enough to try winged eyeliner a few months ago, and am still not sure as to whether or not I actually pull it off. It also seems that I am perpetually tired, which means that I am constantly rubbing my eyes. Although I've heard great things about Urban Decay's black 24/7 glide on eye pencils, I'm still too scared to try anything other then a pen liquid liner. Up until a week ago, MAC's rapidblack penultimate eye liner was the only black eyeliner I used, because I had received it one year for Christmas and it worked like a charm. However, when at Duane Reade with my friend Emma, she suggested I buy Jordana's FabuLiner Liquid Eyeliner. I followed her suggestion, and was pleasantly surprised with the product. Immediately, it reminded me of my rapidblack, so I decided to compare the two.

The fabuliner has a thicker brush, which means that it has less control. Along with this, it's not completely opaque on the first shot, which means there's more room for error. I find that when applying this, the line will end up being much thicker than anticipated due to the fact that I have to go over it two or three times. The fabuliner brush is also quite stiff, which means that it doesn't follow the shape of your eyelid as easily as the rapidblack does. The rapidblack has a thinner brush, and tends to be more opaque. I also find that it fades less than the fabuliner. However, at 2.99, the fabuliner is roughly 16 dollars cheaper than the rapidblack. Although I prefer MAC's rapidblack, Jordana's fabuliner is definitely a great drugstore dupe for it. The fabuliner is great for every day wear, but when you want more precision, the rapidblack really takes the cake. Overall, I'm happy having both of these in my arsenal, and definitely plan on using both on a daily basis. I would suggest getting either of these, because you won't be disappointed.

  1. I rarely use liquid liner. The only one I have is a NYX one I bought when I was rushed for a job and it was also $2-$3. I much prefer gel. Have you tried those? I am loving Mac fluid line. Thanks so much again for sharing at this weeks link party. :)
